Teardrop clams are not as readily available as other Tridacna species. While all Teardrops are unusual and beautiful, the "colored" Teardrops are the most exquisite and rarest. They occur in isolated regions and are seldom seen in the hobby. Due to their scarcity and remote habitat, their price is higher than most other clams more commonly available to hobbyists, such as, Squamosa, Maxima, and Crocea clams.

A few of the "colored" Teardrops we have available for sale at this time:

Saw the video you guys just dropped- I had no idea teardrops were their own variation. But I am fairly new to the hobby and clam keeping in general. Hoping to pick something up from you guys one of these days!

Have you noticed a decline in the amount of clams being infected with pmd?

I really don't see any with so-called pinched mantle. I get all my clams directly from a farm I helped set up or directly from the person collecting them. Less handling and perfect conditioning are vital.

The vast majority of clams for sale elsewhere are obtained via middlemen, maybe multiple, prior to shipping to you.

The stress of handling and keeping the clams at the middlemen at subpar conditions are irreversible! I don't say this to dump on other vendors, but clams are very sensitive to poor handling. I am fanatical about safe handling, providing perfect conditions, and very short supply chain. I've been selling clams for 25 years and helped set up clam farms.
