little update on the tunicate. I think it’s doing great. If you look at the original photo above when I first got it it’s grown over the plug. Need to get it a flat rock to grow on as this thing is growing fast! I’ve been dosing @AlgaeBarn oceanmagik daily and I think it’s loving it. Hope the growth continues

Spent the weekend helping a buddy change his mixed reef into an all lps dominated tank. We went and traded in all his sps and was able to talk the Christmas tree worm rock to the trade value for my help. So freaking cool and a great addition to the coastal lagoon!

had to scrape off all the invasive blue clove polyp that was growing in between the coral growth which I think is porites. First picture the coral is pretty ticked off but the worms popped out immediately. Should grow back in no time and fill in the now pretty white base rock. I also leaned it up against the main structure so the porites can grow and hopefully more worms appear. Not entirely sure how they reproduce. Guess only time will tell

Sad day... the garden eels did not make it. I hate when things die cause it’s almost 99% of the time our fault. Learned some lessons but we’ll see if I try them again in the future. For now everything else is alive and thriving.

one if the macros I got from a company down in Florida is finally starting to thrive. It’s commonly known as tea cup macro. Gotta find the Latin name.

as the Xmas tree worm starts to settle in, I’m seeing more and more worms appear. Really pretty addition to this coastal tank even under full spectrum lighting.

Sorry for your eel loss, that's rough. Everything else looks great. Nice christmas tree worm rock! Love those. Way to go with the tunicate so far.... Looks promising. Where'd you purchase from? I'm having trouble finding them anywhere.

How long has this tank been running?

I actually got the tunicate from a local store. They had it on frag plugs which was sweet. The guy working there didn’t even know what I was asking when I said I’ll take a frag of the tunicate lol. So far it’s been growing well but they’re hard to find as they’re not commonly fragged and sold.

The tank was first filled with saltwater on April 25th so about four months old. Not sure if that was the downfall with the eels although all the testing results have been super stable even when I fed heavy twice a day for them. Most of my corals have been living in my other tanks for well over a year lol. I’ve been hoarding gorgonians and odd ball corals just waiting for the chance to set this tank up. Once the cycle went through I let the fish live in the tank for another month without the corals to make sure the bacteria built up, then added the corals and bam instant full tank haha

King Tide here...

Everything is looking awesome!!! Love the update. The TUNICATE is so cool... making me wanna find one for my system... Love the coastal tank, a favorite of mine no doubt!

if you can find one snag it, but know they really need phyto supplementation daily. I know you’re already doing that but just so everyone else knows. I’d through them in the category of nps

Absolutely! Think phyto is key no doubt with your success. How large of a rock piece are you going to work it onto? Really awesome keep the thread updated! Sure people love it, I know I do!

right now I have it hidden under the toadstool so it doesn’t get blasted with light. I moved it onto a larger flat rock probably 4inch square. If I add it to the main rock scape, it will eventually take over. Trying to avoid corals that will be a pain to deal with controlling in the future.

Yesterday was a great day. Reef Builders featured my tank! I’ll link the article below.

Let’s add some photos with this post too!
The mantle on my clam is growing so I’d say I’m finally having success with clams

started moving some corals to the coastal tank as I have another awesome build in the works. So cleaning house in the others and keeping the corals I just can’t get rid of

just picked up Patrick star for the tank. Super super bright!

and lastly found this fauchea growing in my halimedia. Pretty neat that it’s popping up out of nowhere after 2 months of not seeing it in the tank. I remember adding it but it sort of disappeared. Thankfully it’s making a return!
