Is anyone using Aquarimate???

Is anyone using Aquarimate, and if so, are you having any issues with it? I have a confirmed subscription in itunes, and when I try to log in to AquarimateLive it tells me I don't have a subscription. Aquarimate says I have a subscription when I try to sign up for AquarimateLive (again), so I'm a bit worried, I feel bamboozled :confused:

I'm a bit concerned, I paid $9.99 for the app and an additional $9.99 for the AquarimateLive service (I didn't think the app had a charge, let alone pay twice).

I am just starting in this hobby, and I have been saying to myself, and anyone who will listen, that the biggest thing I am going to learn is patience...the struggle is real. I messaged them sunday and received their automated response and again today, same thing. No actual follow up yet. Is the company still legit? Will I be helped?

I use it. Daily. And have not faced the issues you are facing. None whatsoever actually. Hopefully you can have support help you, it's a great little app. I have been looking at aquatic log too. It looks great on my laptop, but the mobile app is not as good

Thank you for letting me know, helps me rest a little easier. I agree about aquatic log. Mobile is really just good for quick adds of measurements and things.

Ok, so I sent three messages to Aquarimate and am yet to have received a response; this is less than ideal. But, i went into my iTunes subscriptions and canceled the auto renew of my Aquarimate Live subscription, then added it back. This did something that allowed Aquarimate to recognize my Live subscription and all is working now :)

I'm comparing it to Aquatic Log and will post my thoughts about the two after some weeks of use (if anyone cares ;))

Definitely check it out. As I understand, it basically allows you to use the information on multiple platforms. A bit of a cash grab I’d say being that most products these days are “cloud based” without an additional charge. But 10$ a year after the app purchase isn’t bad.

I've been using AquaticLog (free) primarily. While it does have some quirks, it does everything I need. Since I normally test everything at once on the weekends having a single screen to enter parameters is very helpful. It also allows you to set low/high/normal limits for all the parameters as well, a big plus. Readability on the phone is a bit less than ideal, but the developer is very receptive to suggestions. Allows adding of photos, and associating photos with livestock. And the app is free. Also, Aquaticlog provides cross platform access, i.e. phone, tablet, browser. The web browser version does have some nice features as well: bulk import of parameters, export of different information, typing auto complete for inhabitant entry, etc.

I have also used and have installed on my phone:

• Pocket Marine ($2.99)
  • For me, this app is in second place. The only drawback currently is that it doesn't support more than one aquarium. I asked the developer about this and multiple aquariums is currently in the works (supposedly to be out shortly). It also has a single screen entry for all the parameters. Provides historical graph of parameters. The plus with this app is the database of fish, inverts, and corals. Lots of good information provided and you can tap the heart icon to add something to your aquarium. Allows adding of photos, and associating photos with livestock.
• Marine Box ($3.99)
  • Not a bad app. Has similar features to Aquaticlog and Pocket Marine. It supports multiple aquariums. I didn't like it because the parameter entry is one by one. Provides historical graph of parameters in a dashboard format. This is one of the better dashboards of parameters. I like that it groups similar parameters. It has a database that can contain information that is not associated with an aquarium. So if you have an extra powerhead/pump/etc it will keep track of it. Allows adding of photos, and associating photos with livestock.
• Reef Manager ($1.99 no longer installed)
  • Not a bad app. Good database of fish/inverts/corals. Unfortunately you could only search the database by scientific name, not quite user friendly. I know me, I have a hard enough time remembering the common names... It also doesn't support multiple aquariums or really the idea of aquariums. Which doesn't provide a way to associate live stock with a tan. The big plus with this app is that it will provide suggestions on element balances based on your testing against the Randy Holmes-Farley Method. Allows adding of photos, but only associating photos with livestock.
• Aquarium Manager (free / add supported - $1.99 to remove adds - no longer installed)
  • This wasn't a bad app either. Has a good database of fish, supports multiple aquariums, single screen entry of multiple parameters. Provides historical graph of parameters. For me it unfortunately didn't support changing units of measure. Aquarium volume is only in liters, temperature is only in celsius, etc. No ability to add scheduled tasks/reminders. No ability to add photos.

Hope this provides some useful information for folks looking at the various phone apps.

I am a little drawn to Aquarimate, as this seems to be one of the top used tracking apps, but the fact that it hasn't had any updates in a year is a bit unsettling.

I am happy to answer any questions about the various apps listed.

Aquarimate Update:

I just entered the data I have been recording in Aquaticlog.com into Aquarimate. Couple of issues so far.

-The photos show up on the App (iOS), but are blank on my Mac. The photo album is there, the picture file icon is there, but it shows no picture. I have tried adding a picture to the album via my Mac and it still shows up blank on the mac, but is visible on my iPhone app. Definitely not a good situation.

-The graphs for the parameters have some issues too, which is a bit concerning as the point of entering these numbers is to watch trends and have an accurate recording of the data. There is a small notation about the "last result" that shows the differential. It is inconsistent in what is defining as well as inaccurate in some instances. Photos are the best way to show this:

This parameter was a default record provided by Aquarimate
The dashboard graph view shows the "last result" (or current result in real time recording) has dropped .4 from the previously recorded value
The differential notation reflects this change also

I tried looking at this from different perspectives. "Does red and green indicate undesirable / desirable?" If this is the case, it is not consistent, but I don't believe that is what the colors represent. Seems to me its more like an up / down value representation.

I also tried to figure out if the differential records were representing something I didn't intuitively understand straight away. I could not figure one out, and the temperature differential showing 78 is obviously inaccurate.

I then considered if the timing of me setting up these records prior to solving my issues I had with my Aquarimate Live account could have screwed up the data in some way. I created a tank record today, from my phone as well as from my Mac, with the Aquarimate Live account active, and still had similar inaccurate recordings within the Ammonia parameter.


So far, I am not leaning toward using Aquarimate, purely because of its inaccuracies and inability to show the photos on my Mac. I still have not received a human response from my, now 4, support request submissions. This isn't looking good for Aquarimate.


Anyone else seeing these inaccuracies within their Aquarimate records?

Have you tried aquarium note? App can configure multiple tanks, parameters and photos for each. Tracks live stock, equipment,etc.. i have not had any issue with it thus far.

Customer service Update:

Aquarimate responded to my support request about the photo issues. They thanked me for bringing it to their attention and promptly fixed the issue. Photos are working on both my phone and Mac now.

I am going to submit a support request about the "differential indicator" inaccuracies and see if they can get that squared away too.

Aquarimate is a very nice looking app and if it is accurate and they respond well to issues, as they did with this one, than it may be a viable option for my data tracking. (has the option to link with Apex as well, which is on my wishlist)

So, I am not sure why Aquarimate hadn't responded to my first support requests, but they have more than made up for that.

They have responded to my issues posted above with quick fixes. They acknowledged the mistakes with a brief description of what the issue was (having a programming background I like this data), and let me know to close out the program and check to make sure it is operating correctly.

I had made them aware of the above issues by sending the link to this thread within their support ticket submission and a "real person" immediately read the thread, communicated to me their intent, researched the issue, and had it fixed by the Aquarimate team within a day.

I am going to start leaning heavily on their service/program to see how I like it. I mentioned to them how their online presence is a bit outdated and that this can be concerning for people looking into Aquarimate.

I will see if this option will be my go to for data logging, but I am no longer concerned about Aquarimate as a company; they are here for their customers 100%.

apologies if it goes against any forum rules by posting this, however as it’s already been mentioned I’m hoping it’s good to do so....

I am the creator/developer of Pocket Marine and do appreciate the fact it was even mentioned, and a big appreciation for the words said. I’ll happily take second place, for now. Multiple aquariums will be included with the next update, I am a week or so off from this update yet unfortunately but it’s coming. It is one of the most requested features and I do acknowledge it’s very long overdue. As it was mentioned I just wanted to drop the fact it’s on it’s way and hopefully I can sway you into putting us top of that list at some point in the near future.

Hello, I see this is an old thread, however; I just had the exact same experience NYBUMKIM had in that I was charged 9.99 for the app and another 9.99 for the subscription. I have reached out to support several times about this, but no one has gotten back to me. SO, I reported it Apple using their process and I was refunded the 9.99. Now however, I cannot even access the App. It will not open stating that I need a subscription in order to use it. Conveniently, they have a renew button. I am so confused. Is the 9.99? Or is the app 9.99 and another 9.99 for a cloud subscription? Should I not be able to just access the app on my phone with the cloud feature? Thanks for any insight on this.
