Is it time for a fond farewell?

2 months ago I had said that LED is going to dominate reefing and MH was going to be hard to give away much less sell in a years time......seems I was wrong.....10 months remain in that statement and already I am seeing MH staying on shelves and for sale threads while the movement to LED continues.

I loved my MH setup and the results...but hated the heat, sound, and bulb replacement. I still remain skeptical but have to ask......is this the end of the once great staple point in reef lighting?

Do you see MH lasting through the LED onslaught? As technology and research continues to advance LED's are just going to get better and better....are LED's going to dominate for the next 15 to 20 like MH or will it fade?

I think MH is on its way out. Too much heat, too expensive to run. With improvements in the color temperatures of LEDs, and their low energy consumption/heat output they will win. How long will this take? I have no idea. I also don't think it will be a complete replacement. MH didn't push T5 or even PC lights out of the market.

i think more and more people will make the switch to Led but MH will still be around.I made the switch from Mh to led onlybecause of the heat issues.

As stated I am still not totally convinced in LED and still think about running a 10k MH with LED's for actinics....I think that would be awesome. But can't get myself to think about buying MH again.
