What do you mean I need measurable nitrates? I thought the Nitrites will go down and then the Ammonia goes downYour cycle is not complete until you have 0 ammonia and measurable nitrates. Nitrites are irrelevant in reef aquaria. So no fish yet.
Ok I've heard you also have a little bit of Nitrates correct? So what's "ideal" water parameters?Ammonia to Nitrite, Nitrite to Nitrate. Goes further down in terms of consumption, buts that the “cycle” I use anyway, before adding fish.
Perhaps you should do a little more research into the hobby so you better understand how to sustain a marine tank with inhabitants. There are general standards for tank parameters which you can find easily via Google.Ok I've heard you also have a little bit of Nitrates correct? So what's "ideal" water parameters?

I would wait...Ok I've heard you also have a little bit of Nitrates correct? So what's "ideal" water parameters?
Absolutely on-point stable chemistry at all times forever starting with 0 TDS RODI for mix and top off.Ok I've heard you also have a little bit of Nitrates correct? So what's "ideal" water parameters?
I would wait...
Nothing good in this hobby happens fast.
I started on Tuesday of Last week. I used Fritz 900 beneficial bacteria and Dr Tims Ammonia. In old cycling science those parameters reported would cause fear, hesitation, and alarm. And at minimum multiple reverification tests + three new bottles of bacteria and six weeks delay.
But to new cycling science, those are likely readings from any reef on this board including eight year running ones
Why is that? (The answer illuminates differences in old vs new cycling science. Ocs is flat earthing by comparison he he)
The one variable missing needed to solve here is simple: how many days has tank been running?
Why this is the determinant? new cycling science is predictive vs reactive:
If his tank is one day old, those levels are enough to feed bacteria just fine
Give them the ten days shown on Dr Reefs bottle bac thread that any brand of bacteria requires to adhere to all rock surfaces... his cycle end date is ten days after this stew was made. This is so water changes won't reduce your suspended pre implantation bac levels as worst case scenario
The levels are still within safety range... if you have a one day old reef and added a fish, the bottle bac you added will carry these levels at steady state even with an extra fish load in place
You wouldn't harm a fish if you've used bottle bac to earn these numbers/ who doesn't use bottle bac/ predicted you did.
But if his day is ten or more, the cycle is done because:
That's enough time for adhesion of any brand. Your test kits didn't determine readiness, your wait time does and it's the one missing variable here
Nobody cares about nitrite or nitrate in new cycling science. Any answer you approximate and relay factors 0% if it's nitrite and nitrate data. But for hardliners: just like ammonia, nitrite isn't zero in a running reef tank. There's some in conversion. If you want to study nitrite get a real digital kit and stop guessing with colorimetrics
When the Hanna nitrite meter is applied to a running reef, that reading above is in spec which is why it wouldn't alarm a ncs referee. If you want to study real nitrite data here vs guesstimates, look up Lasse
He audits nitrite levels in reef tanks: how many zeros does he report? (None, he reports the above levels in ready reefs)
Nitrite is still useless data in today's cycle it's strictly about disease plan (not safe to add fish until there is one, though our cycle will carry any fish you want)
Lastly, that ammonia above is nh3
Nh3, the one we use, is ten times lower and in any study book that's sublethal ammonia for all organisms we keep.
I'll vote ready after the disease plan is in place even though it would carry six fish rn
All likelihood you're past day ten.
OK: how predictable was your cycle based on provided and omitted info? :)
