Is my light sufficient for this tank?

Hey! I just want to know whether my Kessil AP700 is enough for this tank. It is 120 gallon 5ft×18inx24in. I feel like the sides do not get as much light.

Your mushrooms don't seem to be reaching so id say for your current corals it is sufficient.

However if you wanted to try something like acros you'd need to be directly under the light.

That Kessil light is meant to cover 48” area for a mixed reef. You can probably get away with lower light requisite corals on the edges. From an aesthetic perspective the tank would likely look better with another light fixture.

I would like to try acros and maybe more of the sps'. On the right side, my montis are growing so I guess the light is okay. Would you say lps corals would be okay on the more shaded sides?

Since the light is around 185 watts, and if i add another light on each side what is a perfect light? preferably on the cheaper side

You could look into the Nicrew line of reef lights. There are several models aimed at different price points.

Big fan of the nicrew lights.

However since you are already running a kessil my inclination would be to try to find another one used. That way it's cheaper and you won't have trouble with one side of the tank looking like a slightly different color

I grew corals all over a 4ft tank with one ap9x...acros centered under the light. I would assume you could get away with low light corals on the edges.
Also consider the visual effects...the shimmer pattern from one center light is nice.

This is what I was thinking as well, i could probably grow some acro on the back wall. By gluing the frag to something strong. What would you say is good to grow to a more shaded area?

anything 50-75 par...zoas, mushrooms, blastos, chalice.

Chalice? I'm no expert, but they can grow at a lower lights? I got one and they grow on a much higher par. But I guess it depends on each adaptability

they can thrive in a range of 50-150. I found color is better with lower par.
