Is my Torch sick or just ticked?

Our torch is not opening lately and I am not sure what is the problem.

Nothing in lightning or flow has changed at all.

Water parameters:
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 20ppm
Alkalinity - was 7, raised to 8.2 with baking soda
Calcium - 450
Magnesium - 1500

We did have serous dynos outbreak about two weeks ago so dosed DynoX twice. But torch was opening even during outbreak and he is not.

I noticed that his leg/foot looks brown/pinkish - is that normal or is it sign of some disease? Tried to scrub it thinking that it might be algae, but it does not come off.

At the same time Hammer is doing fine in the same water. I would expect if water is no good it would affect them both, but no, he is thriving :)

Looks ticked off. How fast did you raise the alk? They don't like big swings, so if you raised it from 7 to 8.2 in an instant, that could be your problem

Torches are sensitive to swings in parameters, if you were dosing to raise Ph, that could have made it mad. If that’s the case, then just leave it alone and it should recover.

It was like this for a couple of weeks already, before I started dosing to raise Alkalinity. I read here on R2R that they do not like low Alk, so though that would solve the problem.... It did not :(

We raised from 7 to 8.2 over the course of 3 days. But that does not seem to have any effect on him. Still closed :(

having the same issuse i was having hair allgea i dosed reeflux every thing looked a little unhappy for a day...7 days later evrything looks great again i only having one issure with a tourch that looks very swollen and is not letting out tenticles

I am concerned that his leg/foot/base (whatever we call it) appears to be deteriorating (see highlighted in red)
Or does it look normal to more experienced people?

yea i see that look a little rotted i nottied my sun coral do that when one of them died hte skelton turned dark coloration and then faited back to white

It looks even worse today... I wonder should I take him out and dip in something? Like Iodine dip?

Have you checked for any pests? I had an emerald crab pestering my torch until I removed him.

I do not see any pests and we don't have crabs

At this point, why not try an iodine dip and see if anything comes off. Can't hurt, right?
