Just got home and noticed my new nem looks like this, its a gbta. Had it for 2 days so far and its been opening nicely and bubbling up. The photo on the bottom is what it usually looks like. Is something wrong or is this just normal nem behavior to close up like this with its mouth out. Thanks

Also noticed it has a red foot unlike the others at the store. Does that make it “rarer” and possible worth more?

What did you try and feed it? I'm a big fan of mysis soaked in selcon. I also like LFS foods.

With anemones and LPS, any food that is too large like a silverside, I have read, poses a risk to the animal bc it rots in its stomach. Just my 0.02

I feed silversides

I would recommend against feeding silversides to anemones. There have been many documented cases of them killing anemones.

I recommend mysis (preferably soaked in selcon) or a variety food like Reef Frenzy.

I’m no expert but most of what I’ve read is if you have adequate lighting you don’t need to feed them directly. I have had mine for about a year, I don’t feed it directly, it gets some when I feed the tank and sometimes the clowns bring it some. It has grown well and split once in that time.

I had one in past where I fed it mysis Infrequently maybe one a week or every 2 weeks and just a little squirt of mysis out of a syringe (very little). And he grew 3 times the size in2 years. So sad I had to move and sell him. Now back into it and doing the same with 2 new btas and doing great.
