Got this big blue squamosa from a friend out of hobby a few days ago. It's 11" length on the shell, and 10" width when it's open. I know it's not the best-looking one, but blue squamosa is sososo rare in China, so I think I got a big bargain. It will go under 250w HM days later.
Two big blue squamosas so far;Happy

Yeah, for sure! Unique is asking about $1k for a dersa clam a little bigger than that. Blue squamosa is definitely uncommon.

All day every day! Blue squamosa are more readily available but that's a reasonable price for that guy.

It's quite different here. I could get crocea for only $20-60 depending on the look every spring. There is no cultured but only wild clam. Derasa and hippopus are very rare lately, not to mention the blue squamosa.

3” blue squammy from liveaquaria divers den for $350... so almost 4 times larger for $100 less is one heck of a deal!

I can get usually around 1200-1500 for a 8-10 inch blue squammy. They have a bit better pattern than that, but that is still a smoking deal. I paid $300 to replace my last two a few years ago... at 3 inches.

I cannot get much for large deresa... maybe $100-150. The people who have room and lots of cash will wait until a blue squammy, teardrop or other nice maxima or crocea come along.

It's lucky that you could pick up what's you like and repeat the process. Watching them keep growing is the most enjoyable thing.
