What are we looking at? A Duncan?

Corals in general are reactive. A snail of crab could have grazed it. A fish crossing a powerhead could have diverted current for a moment. I have corals react to me reaching over the tank causing a shadow for a moment. Could also be that something is off.

We need more info. You’re perspective of what you see compared to what’s normal. How long this has gone on for or if this is first discovery. Parameters. Tank inhabitants. Feeding schedule. Is the coral target fed regularly. Etc

One pair of clownfish, 6 nassarius snails, one sea slug, one lawnmower blenny, one skunk cleaner shrimp. I feed the coral with brine shrimp every week. The other corals are fine.

Nitrate is low, while phosphate is a tad high. Which test kit are you using?

My guess is the skunk cleaner picked at it looking for food

I don’t see anything wrong with parameters except zero nitrates. Another small fish might help with that, or feeding more
