I've had this fish for a few months and I was told that it was a black leopard wrasse when I bought it. Today I decided to google black leopard wrasse, and mine doesn't have any pattern or color other than black body and white tail. It eats frozen and pellets. It is out swimming around from lights on to lights out. It doesn't seem to bother anyone or anything. I'm just curious as to what it actually is. It's about 2-2.5

Looks to me like a Macropharyngodon negrosensis, I can’t tell if it’s male or female however judging by how big you say it is my bets are on a female still. If possible, can you get a better photo?

It doesn't sit still enough to get a good pic. Here's another bad pic. LOL

This is a much better photo and actually it’s just good enough to sex it - you have a beautiful female.

Will it turn male, or do they stay female?
She could turn male however it’s not 100% whether Macropharyngodon species will turn male in captivity.

It is a female.
Here are pictures of my male
Base color of the Male Black Leopard, notice the black edge of the caudal fin. That is the characteristic of the male vs female Black Leopard
