Is this a gorilla crab?

I discovered a crab living in one of my millies so I decided to remove him to get a proper ID. He was way down in there so it was hard to get a good look at him, but now I see that he's a bit hairy and has black tipped claws. Is this a dreaded gorilla crab? Sorry for the bad pics, but my wife has the SLR for the day, so I had to use my P&S.

Would it be safe to exile him to my fuge, or should I give him a "burial at sea?"

I had one like that. Started eating SPS polyps. Fuge fodder my friend

My mille was looking pretty ticked off and I thought it was from the crab crawling around, but now that he's gone the polyps still aren't extending in some spots. :cry:

Hmmm....it happened to my Lokani and it took a while for it to recover. Not sure about a mille, I can't keep them alive with or without crabs :cry:

Ya,he looks pretty hairy and big to be the average acropora crab.

I had one that looked like donkey kong, It demolished my palau green tree overnight. I can dig up some pics to compare if you want. All the research I did to ID it said "hairy and black pointy claws are bad news".

Yeah, I know hairy and black tips are bad. He's in the fuge now, so no more milles for dinner

Not sure what kind he is but a normal acro for sure!!! I would get rid of it personally....

You don't think it's safe to have in the fuge? The only way he could make it back into the DT is to go through the return pump. Pretty sure he wouldn't survive that ride...

Maybe but if it's a acro eating crab he won't survive with out food down there.... At least I would think... Good question lol...

I'd rather have him starve in the sump than thrive in my DT and wipe out my acros. My mille still looks pretty unhappy toward the base where he was living.

Hairy little bugger, isn't he? Mine only had hair on its claws, but the body itself was pretty much bald

I read somewhere that the older they get,the more hairy they become and more aggressive too.
