Picked up a bunch of these Michaels Craftsmart “sensory” bottles to use as density bottles as my 6th graders study the layers of the atmosphere. First thing I thought of when I saw the bottles was can I use these as dosing containers for Tropic Marin A & K. Each bottle says “PET 1” on the bottom. Is it safe to be used in this manner?

Anything plastic will leach chemical compounds. I’ve used Polypropylene for water storage. Supposedly it’s the most inert plastic or less likely to leach chemicals. Most likely the bottle you have will be just fine.

Looking back to your reefing roots: Did you start with Instant Ocean salt?
