I just got this fish from Dr Reef 2 weeks ago. Does he have Ich. My tank has never had ich that I know of nor does any of the other fish show signs of it. I have a Powder Blue Tang, Yellow eyed Tang, yellow Tang and Chocolate Tang none of them seem to have it

Also he is eating Black worms and acts fine. I can't get him to eat anything else. I tried Clam half shelf, mastic, rods, Mysis and pellets.

Does anyone have a opinion if this is Ich and I need to worry. I don't want my whole tank getting infested

Can’t tell if the white dots are on the glass or on him if it’s just the ends of the tail & fins, that is Lympho. The tail definitely has lympho now that I look at it. Lympho is a virus that clears on its own, it can spread. All you can do is feed quality foods and it usually clears within a couple of weeks. I’m sure @Jay Hemdal can fill in on this

Looks like Lymphocystis

* This is a virus that many fish carry for life. The white nodules (cauliflower-like growths) can grow both externally and internally; so symptoms are not always visible.
* There is no known cure for Lympho. However, feeding vitamin-enriched foods and maintaining pristine water conditions will help send the virus into remission.
* Lympho is rarely fatal; typically only older or weakened fish are at risk.

Thanks for the help. This sound better than Ich. I thought it odd that none of my other fish had the spots if it was Ich.

My cardinal had it when I fist got him. Cleared in 7 days and no other fish got it. I believe it was due to quarantining, copper specifically. Regardless I wouldn’t pay it no mind

Its not ich, it's lymph virus, almost a guaranteed side effect of copper on some butterflies angels and tangs.
There is no known cure for it. Normally with pristine water quality and use of fish vitamins added to fish food will rid it.
Its not deadly nor contagious.
Selcon added to fish food has been reported to help the most.

Here is an article we wrote a while back that has also been reported to have helped, but in general any fish vitamins will rid it over time.

It is Lymphocystis. Given good care and good condition, it will clear in a short time. I have a thread documented the clearing of this problem on my CBB somewhere. I see if I can link it below.
Post #637 was the first post on Lymphocystis on my CBB. Cleared in 16 days. Pictures included.
