I've noticed that my new setup I just picked up used, has a slight overhang, exactly equal to the thickness of the side panel.

Is this an issue? What do you think?

I assume that's a matched-set... an IM tank and (clearly) an IM stand? How many gallons is that tank... 30(?)

Yep IM 30 long. It was purchased as a matching set, but the back of the stand has about an inch and a half that is not covered by the tank, but I cant find any stands IM ever made that match the dimensions of mine.....

I wonder if it would be better or worse to 'split the difference' between the front and rear, making an even smaller overhang on each? To bad you don't have a second black-board for extra strength.

Anyone else able to chime in?

I agree with split the difference, not much weight/gallonage to cause a TON of pressure. Plus it's not a overhang panel, it's inset, so as long as SOME of it is supported I think you would be fine.
