at the start of me adding corals ( around a month ago) i got given a bubble tipped anemone and it was stuck to this piece of dead coral when the anemone moved we noticed that the “dead coral” wasn’t actually dead and has a little spot of green and i’ve talked to the owner and he said it was a branching candy cane, my question is will that super small speck of green going to grown and eventually be a colony of candy cane or is it not worth the trouble and likely die? i’m a beginner still trying to learn

It's tough to tell from the photo, but if it's a candy cane then they're pretty darn hardy. I've had hundreds of polyps grow from just one starter polyp, and it was smaller than a pea.

I'd keep it and let it contribute to your knowledge/experience either way.

If there’s tissue there’s hope.
What the OP needs to watch for is what this tissue grows into?
It might be something besides a candy cane, and so let it grow and repost for an id once it's large enough to see what's growing.

I have seen dot's like this turn out to be plate corals, and various paly's, torch corals, etc. Keep a close watch!
