What happened after that? It looks like the clown was fighting back and not afraid of the mandarin. The clown was like "let go of my fin so I can kick your butt" :)

I used my tongs to separate them, as soon as I got near them the mandarin let go, the clownfish was shocked but unharmed other than what looked like a tiny hole in the middle of his fin, like a piercing.
The mandarin then proceeded his assault before I chased him away and the clown didn't leave the corner for a while... They are back to normal now though.

I wonder what would have happened if I had left them

The clown may have been the instigator. My melanerus wrasse was biting my mandarin and I jumped up and ran over to the tank. The mandarin just buffed up and took the blows. After a couple seconds he snapped back the wrasse swam away and he hovered back to his pods. I think that was an aggression over pods? Anyways yours is like pit bull... with lock jaw, I thought he was gonna start shaking that clown.

I've seen it a couple of tiems again today... 100% the mandarin thats got a bad attitude for some reason... I wonder if the clowns pattern makes a difference

I "apparently" had a pair of mandarins that were wild caught and "paired up" how ever this happened and I was devastated, the smaller (female) absolutely destroyed the poor male with in a day. (Sorry for the blurry photo, tried to zoom in with my camera phone)

The funny part of this video to me is the clown doesn't really seem to be trying to get away! Lol Just kinda swimming in circles almost like they're playing (witch I guess could be equally as weird)
