Japanese toadstool splitting

Had this Japanese toadstool for over a year now and has been happy and very healthy. Noticed that the base seems to be dividing and there is a hole developing in the middle. Is this a thing? Didn’t think that these divided that way. Oh and there is a porcelain crab parked in the middle of it haha

Hmm, I've never seen that or heard of it before. I got my japanese toadstool just 2 months ago and has only fully opened up for about a month so I aint got much experience with these corals.

Perhaps other people would have some knowledge on these.

Though, to me, it reminds me of the way xenias split.

I would think something is wrong but it looks so great otherwise

I don't think that it's splitting. I'm pretty sure that's some type of local infection. Bacterial more than likely. Same type of thing that happens to acros or LPS like euphyllia.
