Hi there! I just picked up this beauty for $25 from a local reefer, to eventually use for a mushroom grow out tank and free up the entire left half of my 40b. I noticed it’s going to take a bit of modifications to get up and running and was wondering if anyone here had any experience.
The first, most glaring thing, is where the hole for the return nozzle is located. It’s down at the bottom. Which means you can’t really put a substrate down higher than the hole. A quick search pulled up a really old post on here where someone just fitted a 90* elbow of pvc pipe to have it then come out the top. That seems to be the easiest solution, but also not exactly aesthetically appealing to have white pvc coming up and then back out.
The next, would be these 2 little holes that are part way up, on either side of the tank. Should I just plug those up with some silicone, to keep the flow of the AIO chamber working properly? Or are they small enough to just be ignored?
The final, and easiest thing I’d imagine, will just be getting a media caddy printed to hold some filter floss. The back is completely empty outside of the intake grate and the return at the bottom.
For $25, I figured it was worth grabbing and then figuring the rest out later.
