Cherry Corals order should be here tomorrow. Had to delay it due to single digit temps and freezing rain last night.

I also got my Aquatic Life hybrid fixture with 2 Blue+, a Coral+, and a true actinic. Going to try to hang it tonight. It's a little bit deeper than the display section of my tank, so I'm not 100% sure if that's going to mean a lot of spillover light. I may set it back an inch instead of centering it over the tank. We'll see. It's certainly bright, that's for sure. I was glad to still see plenty of shimmer from the 360 while I did a test run a little while ago.

The GHA is continuing to go away, too, which is great. My goal right now is just consistency and stability. Coraline is starting to take hold, too. Alk and calcium are steadily coming up with my kalk I'm using. I've got 2 part ready to go when needed, too, but I think kalk will probably be plenty for now. I don't have any stony corals, so coraline, snails, and the crab should be the only things using calcium at the moment.

I'll post a picture later once I get the hybrid fixture hung and setup. I'll probably wait until my Cherry Corals order comes in, too. Gotta figure out where I want to put each of them... hmmmm...

The corals came in and looked great! Did about an 11g water change in the process of dipping them. Took water out of the tank for the dip buckets and then put fresh back in to replace it. Dipped in about 1.5g of water, rinsed in two 4.5g buckets.

The algae continues to go away. Got my new saltwater holding tank today. Fits just about perfectly in the corner where I wanted it.

Now the waiting begins! Gonna try to get this algae gone a bit more and then maybe add the next fish. Also found out Sustainable Aquatics has captive bred green mandarins that eat pellet food, so may have to get one! My wife was wanting one, but I didn't want to do it on this tank thinking I'd have to do what I've done in the past, which is get the youngest one I can and feed them lots of frozen copepods. Wouldn't have to do that if they eat pellet food!

Anyway, on to the pics. :)

Until next time!

Tank is doing well overall. Still have some hair algae on the rocks that doesn't seem to be losing ground, but coraline is continuing to pop up in more places. I also have a new addition today... a tiny, 1" long or so green mandarin goby. She was captive bred by Sustainable Aquatics and eats Hatchery Diet pellet foods! Very excited to have her and watch her grow. Auto water changes should be up and running tomorrow, too. The water is making and mixing tonight and I'll be ready in the morning. Still making way!

Things are going well! The autowater changes have been going on for a week now. I need to cleanup all of the wiring and tubing, but it's working well. :) All of the frags I got about a month ago have 1 to 5 new polyps on each, so that's been great, too. I'll try to post a FTS later. The remaining algae is starting to go away now, which is also great. Things are chugging along and I'm just trying to give the tank more time to mature. :)

Things are still going well, I'm glad and grateful to report. I decided to try feeding more to help the balance in the tank and it seems to have worked. Could be a false positive, but my animals are happy I'm feeding more and I'm happy the algae is going away, so win win I suppose. Took some top down pics today while feeding. Most of my zoas and palys have really taken off.

Made a trip to a fish store in Columbus yesterday. Matt's Corals. Really, really great store. Wild caught stuff, so I dipped the crap out of all of it (and scraped some eggs off the zoa's... That made me nervous...), but they're open and happy today. Finally got a branching hammer. Also picked up see nice red, blue, and pink zoa's, an awesome rainbow ricordia, a blue ricordia, and an acan my wife and I both liked. For that matter, she pointed the zoa's out to me. Anyway, a few pics.

Couple mods I did for my 45.
-Added canister filter to replace main pumps, went with just ceramic balls in it
-cut existing filter baskets down and added 2 4" skimmer socks onto them (had to cut the plastic rings off the socks) I clean every week but seem to be good for 3 weeks if out of town.
-went with a bigger skimmer
-3 mp10's 2 in front and 1 behind my rock work to keep the backside clean.
- pair of the rotating return heads
- anemone guards on the mp10's to change water flow from a stream to a funnel shape. (needed to calm my water flow in the center)

just some options for you build.

I'm still working on my tank build log for what i did and why.

Nice build! Always love to see another JBJ45 build, a lot of us use that tank. I wish I could do AWC on mine, but I haven’t picked up a controller yet. Planning on going open top?

Thanks! It's a really great sized tank, I think. I cannot recommend the new Apex units highly enough. I went with the EL because I didn't want salinity. It's a really, really great tool that will only get better with the Trident. :) I'll be putting a screen on before I buy any more fish. Just haven't found the right one yet and I'm not in a huge hurry. I want my tank to settle in a bit better.

Great build! Looking forward to watching it progress. Love the clowns you have in there.

Thanks! I love these clowns, too. All 3 of my fish so far are from Sustainable Aquatics. They breed fantastic fish!

I setup my DOS this week and have started working on getting 2 part going. It's time to start tweaking the tank chemistry I think. :)

Finally got a good pic of the Mandarin! Ignore the algae. [emoji32] I was feeding too much for a bit and am now paying for it.
