Long time lurker, infrequent poster here. May be a bit of a late start here but I’d like to have a journal for this tank now. At least I shouldn’t need to report on the uglies now! Start date was January 2018, and it has survived the move from an apartment to our house in March 2019. It’s had some ups and downs, particularly around the time of the move, but is going real strong now.

Tech specs?
IM peninsula 14
Ai prime 16hd
Mp10
Intank basket- floss/seachem matrix
IM desktop Nuvoskim
Cobalt neotherm 75w
Sicce micra plus
Smart ato micro
Special grade sand, reef saver rock

Stock
Purple firefish
Yellow watchman goby
Chalk bass
Zoas
Acans
Hammer
Torch
Chalice
Leptoseris
Monti
Acro

Button scoly
CUC- 2 trochus, 1 cerith, 2 nassarius, 1 nerite, numerous dwarf cerith snails, 2 blue leg hermits.

Currently maintenance on this tank consists of daily feeding and dosing of All-For-Reef to maintain 8-9dkh, blasting the rock/sand and replacing floss a couple times a week, 10% water change weekly with 1ml of vibrant every other week. I’m considering dropping water changes to biweekly and alternating it with the vibrant doses.

For now I’m going to start with some current pictures around the tank and a short feeding video, but if anyone would like to see what some of these corals were like when I got them, or the original setup, etc, I’ve got them somewhere here on my phone. 15C7EF7B-4BB2-433D-83A0-E6EE731E34CA.jpeg 909C2ACB-263C-49C4-8010-BE6C839DBA83.jpeg 685F7105-E82A-4F43-BF89-FFC59FD538D3.jpeg 8975E88B-1CB5-4EC4-91C7-7A98CE02D069.jpeg 072C6220-C96B-4850-B4F3-1DDD963F4A9D.jpeg 96595E01-DF89-4985-94E4-59F59268715C.jpeg 4EA59D4E-BF4C-41AE-ABD9-D493647E514A.jpeg 75DD1743-E0AF-46CB-8BC6-CD500D1FC336.jpeg

I picked up these zoas over the weekend and split them up. They’re all opening up now. Just waiting for them to get big and happy before moving any onto my rock. Other two plugs will probably end up in my frag tank to grow out and frag.

Also a couple pictures of my leptos.

About a week ago I fragged one of my acans. First time using a dremel on acans. Was a little rough on them, torn polyps and all that. But it’s looking like they’re all going to make it over in the frag tank.
Sometime this weekend the frag tank will be getting a face lift, excited for that update!

Busy weekend coming up so water changes happened today! Took a few pictures after. I ordered polyplab’s v2 upgrade lens, excited to try it out whenever it gets here.

Frag tank also got its facelift, I’ll get some pictures of that once it’s cleared up. Full rundown of its specs and such too.

Well, frag tank cleared up a lil’ bit. So, it’s an aqueon tenner sitting on a short stand that I built.

Equipment list
AI Prime Hd
CPR Aquafuge2- medium
Eheim jager 50w
IM Chaetomax 18w
Jebao slw-10
IM Reefrack 50
Reefing Art mag rack
Smart Ato Micro

Currently has two clowns, a six line wrasse and a mix of zoa, acan, and Duncan frags that I made. There’s a chunk of chalice as well as a piece of green acro that I accidentally broke in there. Chalice came out of the display and hasn’t really done anything in either tank ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I got polyplab’s v2 upgrade lens in the mail today! Took this picture of my torch and hammer. I’m thinking the torch is working on splitting with that pale stripe down the center. I also ordered the IM fishguard to see if it keeps my snails from triggering the ato. It messes with my skimmer whenever the return chamber is overfull, plus hearing the ato turn on 5-6 times in a row when I’m laying down/reading drives me insane.

I....the fish guard is doing what I wanted it to. At least acting as a deterrent. Been playing with that v2 lens. Time’s coming to re-up on salt, so I ordered some Tropic Marin Pro. I’ve used Red Sea Coral Pro since the start of this tank, but since I’ve been dosing TM’s All for Reef and maintining alk around 8-8.5 anyways I don’t think it will be that big a shock to the system as it slowly switches over the next x amount of weeks.

I learned a lesson the other day. Always check your bags at the lfs. I asked for a cerith and nassarius snail from where I normally shop, didn’t look in the bag until I got home. Got the cerith, but my googling told me the other was a predatory whelk. Certainly not a nassarius at any rate.
I also got an 80 gallon bucket of TM pro salt in the mail last night, that switch will begin this weekend.

Frag tank update;

It appears to be leaving the uglies behind, chaeto is growing again, and I’m considering dropping the aqamai kps I have sitting around into the hob fuge.

Well the time at home has gotten me making changes to the tank. I realized my vamps/surrounding zoas there are the top were in the strongest flow and lighting in the entire tank and thought to myself “some sps would look good there.”
So I removed them all over a couple of days. Made about 10 frags and relocated a few of the polyps around the tank. I do have one unidentified acro in the tank already, not sure at all what I should add around it.
Also started to experiment with the frag tank’s lighting schedule, I’ll be honest, I’d rather goof it up there than on the display. Lengthened the total period to 10 hours with a 4 hour peak in the middle. The frags look wild under just the blues on either side of the peak, though I can’t say I like how the fish look under them. I’ll leave it for a while and see how everything reacts.
Currently the 14 is just on a 20,000k set, 1130 on/ramp up for an hour, then start ramping down at 730 for another hour. I may change that depending on how things go in. The frag tank.

I took two acans out of the display... I’ve have both for a long time and neither have done too much. They’re in the frag tank now. Moved my 24k lepto down to where one of them was, like it a lot better there. Frag tank is going to run out of room lol.
