Just Bought 40G Setup

What light do you get with this?

I got the Red Sea 90 watt light. Aquatic Treasures recommended this one over others and I took their advice. I have begun a tank build thread. Just now trying to figure out how to link it to my account. :worried-face:

I don't, they say you should. But I do acclimate them and during that time I will inspect the coral with magnifying glass and scrape off anything that moves. I cut the coral off the plug and either glue it to a new plug or directly to a rock.

I have not gotten any pests or disease. Just aiptasia, but I don't think dipping eliminates them. If it does then I messed up. I have a few.

I don't think that will be enough down the road. When I started with a 47 gallon bowfront I used the Viparspectra 300 watt, a little over kill but was great when I upgraded to a 75. Then I bought 2 Kessil 360we tuna blue to go with it, then a few months later found the Cobalt Sea Ray 200 for less than half price at $340 new and bought two. I sold the Vipar for $100. You can still get the Cobalts at half price at Saltwater Aquariums for $499. At this time I have 380 watts of light.

I can't remember, it has been a while since I bought corals. I will need to look back in time. I am sure others here will recommend good online sources. Search them yourself and when you see some you like ask on here about you vender of choice.

I don't know anything about Red Sea light but you may need two for this tank.

The light produces 23,000K equiv, since it is specific for the blue ranges -- what Red Sea calls "Reef-Spec Blue." Combined in the unit is 8000K white. Take a look at their video: HERE and tell me what you think. I'm absolutely new, so any additional thoughts of yours will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a good light. What size is your tank in dimensions? That light has a spread of 24 inches.

Okay. So close to 22" square? I believe that light will be fine. I didn't think 90 watts would be sufficient, but maybe the way it is designed will be just fine. I am no expert, I have been reefing for 7 years and still learning haha. Looks like that light will work for you for some time. Would like to see your build progress. Happy Holidays.
