Juvenile beauties: Is there a juvenile fish that you wish wouldn't grow up?

I wish most of the Big Angel species stayed small and kept thier amazing colors. I also think i would say the chevron tang as well. Same with Dragon wrasse.

My wife told me she saw the coolest clown fish at an LFS. I messaged them the picture she took to inquire about it. When they told me it was this I backed my way out of that conversation.

Controversial but I definitely prefer the juvenile harlequin tusk.

i would imagine it's very similar to a wetmorella wrasse at that size in terms of personality, on my list of fish for a FOWLR.

I’m confused on the question, are you asking which fish stayed small or asking about the juvenile colouring?
The replies are all mixed with ‘Colour’ and ‘Size’

I think both apply but I believe it was color they were looking for. I chose size though

I don’t mind the size however if a juvenile Scarus bicolour kept its colours until adulthood, it would be 5x higher on my must have list than it is now.

Looks like a clown got friendly with a guppy! I agree looks good.

Chevron tang is an obvious one. Some people also seem to really like the black/navy & white stage of juvenile angelfish.

The one I haven’t seen anybody mention yet is the jewel damselfish, aka yellowtail damselfish. They’re only known as jewel damsels because of their juvenile stage with the gorgeous neon blue polka dots. Having a background in scuba, I instead know them as yellowtail damsels, because I’m well aware they lose that brilliant coloration and turn into a far bigger, far more muted coloration fish as an adult.

I know damselfish are, in general, known to be highly aggressive, but hear me out:

- A damsel that stays small and pretty its whole life

OR

- A damsel that will turn into a dull looking, big old bully

…I know which stage I‘d rather have.

Dragon wrasse for me. If I could get a juvenile dragon wrasse that would stay 3 inches thus no real threat to inverts

with the juvenile coloration I would have one in every tank
