Started dosing kalkwasser with a doser from a dosing container that's not air tight and noticing precipitation. Does this decrease the potency of the kalkwasser or does it stay the same and I just lose volume?

A calcium carbonate skin will form on the surface of the kalkwasser as it reacts with CO2. If this is what you are referring to, It is normal
Yes, if I shake the container it'll break apart and settle to the bottom. So I'm assuming the concentration will remain the same inspite of this?

Don't disturb the crust. Just stir it once when you prepare a batch, let it settle, and dose it until it's gone. Repeat. The potency doesn't diminish much over a month.

You will decrease the concentration if you keep breaking the crust. Calcium hydroxide is soluble. CO2 entering will turn hydroxide into carbonate. Carbonate will form precipitate insoluble compounds when reacting with calcium.

As more CO2 enters, you will decrease the alkalinity and pH potency.

Keep it in a closed container, and don’t stir it after the initial mixing.
