Keeping a collection of corals in your aquarium: Do you have a favorite type of coral?

While some reef keepers focus on diversity, many of us are drawn toward a certain type of corals and find ourselves building a collection of a certain type of corals. This may be a small zoa garden or the entire tank may be focused on torches, anemones, or some other group of corals. Let us know if you tend toward keeping a specific type of corals or maybe there is a coral that you look for when you go to a LFS, a coral show, and when attending a live sale. Whether your interests go in cycles, or you have always had one type that catches your eye, do you have a favorite type of coral?

i definitely have a few favorites, including Toadstools, Tubastraea, Frogspawn, Wellsophyllia, and many more, though they aren't the most difficult or colorful corals, i think they are some of the most aesthetically pleasing to look at.

I've got an eclectic mix but mainly focus on SPS just for the price point. I've got mushrooms(Yuma's, Hairy, Carpet, and Rhodactis), GSP, Zoas, Acros, BTA and RFA, Stylos (both kinds - Styloconiella and Stylophoras), Montis (Caps, encrusted, digits, and Setosa), Torches, Cyphastreas, Gonis, Chalices, Alveoporas, Micromussa, Bowerbankis, Blastos, Leptos/Pavona, and Micromussa. Pretty sure I missed some...

I strive for diversity, looking for ones that stand out.

I do love nems but don't have luck keeping them happy.

I absolutely love my hammers and my duncan!

I am fond of unique zoas. I LOVE mushrooms, but struggle to find decent ones around.

So much thought goes into it for me, haha.

Zoas are my favorite for sure, so much variety and color. Although lately I've really been liking Psammocora.

I guess deversity, but my 25g is Pavona Dominant, with 4 different species/varieties. Also have a rapidly growing branching hydnophora that i'm quite font of as well.

I am also in the process of setting up an acropora dominant tank, even though I already have a few varieties in mixed tanks.

you have an SPS dominant mixed reef. slowly increasing the LPS. i do prefer SPS, but i like the movement LPS adds to the tank and various types that can go in those empty areas of your tank
