I am looking to light a 5 foot 120. That is roughly 60x12x24. I am looking for 2 lights now, might add a third of needed down the road. I have a few questions.

What are the major differences between the 160 and 360?

If you're ere to have the option between new 160s and uses 360 which would you choose and why?

Softies and lps. Some easy sps. Current lighting is coralife (left) and xr15 g5 (right). I can keep either light to go with the kessils but probably won't.

I am a big kessil fan and for this size tank I would normally use 3 A360s. In general, an A360 or any 90-watt light pendent of any brand will cover a 24in cube area for a mixed reef. Because your tank is 5 feet long and 2 feet tall I would go with 3 90watt lights regardless of the brand. The 160 is a 40-watt light and will light an 18in cube area for a mixed reef.

Given the dimensions of your tank you might be better off using a strip-style light rather than pendants. a couple of 5 ft reef bright strips should cover it pretty well. I would do 1 blue and 1 50/50. Adding an extra blue could be a good future upgrade.

thank you. Are they still controllable and all that jazz? I was looking at strip lights too, namely reefbreeders 50" but spending close to $1k is hard when I can spend half that for 80+% the value. at least as far as I can tell...

The Reef Brites are like Kessil. They are not controllable out of the box but there is a controller available.

I don't want to speak ill of any company and I obviously sell some lights and not others. I will say that ReefBrite and Kessil are both top-notch lights. Kessil and Philips are the only 2 aquarium light manufacturers that make their own LEDs and because of this Kessil has superb spectral blending. They are not simply gluing LEDs into a housing. Everything is made in-house by a lighting company that makes lights for all kinds of industries. Reef Brite is a small operation but Tullio is a well-renowned lighting expert who has made lighting for many industries including aerospace but he really likes reef tanks. The lights have unique mirrored reflectors that give some of the most even coverage you could find. I don't think you could go wrong with either.

Two 360's minimum. I use two 360's on my 4' mixed reef and supplement with T5's

Hi! Thought I could help with the PAR samples. I have A360WE x3 over my 5ft long WB145.5. I also have it set up as a hybrid with 4 T5s.

The white figures/numbers are the A360WEs at 100%. It was interesting to see how PAR intensifies at certain areas near the sand due to light reflected back to the tank from the glass. Lights 8” above the water. The tank is also lagoon style at only 16” tall. These are the older 360s. Are you using the newer 360X?

IME, A360WE are appropriate for LPS and softies.

Hope this helps!

probably need 3 kessil 360’s over that.

If controllability isn’t high on the priority list, and you just want the light to come on and off, then quanta reef bars would be a good choice, and budget friendly. 2 x 48in bars would probably give enough coverage.
