Kessil 160w height above water?

I have a 55 gallon tank 16 inches in depth with two kessil 160s on goosenecks, how high off tewh water should that be?

6.5 to 7 inches. Although on a 55 you may find that two a160s are not powerful enough depended on the corals you want to keep :)

What types of corals are you or will you be keeping?

eh I don't really know tbh... I have zoa's, hammer, acan, and a Duncan right now

If you're doing soft and lps corals you'll want two or three. If you start getting into sps you'll want 4+

I have three on a 55, but feel like I need the 4 th, and yes this is not an inexpensive hobby for sure. You can raise the height and blend them but if you don't have the light right your corals will not pop. They will live if your waters good but we've all seen the tanks that have happy Corals. I'm close but not there yet.

What I see is by adjusting height you can create width, but lose some intensity. I'm going too the 4th 160 We Tuna, soon. I want to grow the entire bottom and three 160's at 6" height over the tank still give me shadows in the corners. If I raise them any higher I am illuminating half the room. I will update when I add it next month..

Have mixed reef with softs and LPS., not ready yet for SPS have to get everything right then check par, probably use a Lumens meter, not sure.
