Kessil A160 tuna blue

Hi y’all. I’m new to the saltwater life. I have the A160 Tuna Blue. Could someone recommend a good lighting schedule?

I wouldn’t to be honest, if I’m reading the graph correctly, the lights are on nearly 24h a day.
That is not going to help your algae issue at all.
I run mine with a 2 hour ramp up, 2 hours down and 6 hours at 50% intensity, just LPS.

Depends on the tank depth, corals etc what you go for, just following someone else’s schedule will probably not help.

I have the IM 30 gallon long. The depth is like 13 inches

TBH your algae issue will have more to do with excessive nutrients, rather than your lighting schedule.

That tank could happily run 2 Kessils.

I’m saying you could run two of those lights and still not have an algae issue, it’s more likely your po4 and nitrate that needs lowering than your schedule for your lights that is causing the algae issue.

The Kessil lights are built a little funny with respect to the 1-10v control. Anything under 10% is considered “off” and the light will not turn on. That’s why it looks like the lights are for 24 hrs a day. Trust me, they were not. The programming of the apex smooths the points. It’s also heavy blue (as seen in the color graph maxing at 40%) which is not conducive for algae photosynthesis.

Doesn’t kessil have a spectrum that means no matter how blue you set them they are still out putting the full spectrum.?

I can see how one might think that. However, there is a ‘core’ spectrum the light is attempting to balance as the user adjusts the spectrum of light they want to see, ie more blue or white. The core spectrum is the spectrum corals like for growth. However, more white adds more red/green to the mix, which is where algae likes to grow.
