Well, after losing most of my fish in a power outage, I QT the new Chucky in copper...after 2 weeks my patience ran out and my stupidity came up and I put him in DT...been there 2 days, all seems well except he has one white spot right on his lip...last time you thought it may be a sand spec...if it is ich, is Quick Ich safe and effective in a reef or will it do more harm than good...I'm sure that you think, "if these guys don't listen, why do I bother"...sorry...I suppose I can remove him, but of course, this would be easier...Thanks...I'll listen this time...Ken

First off, are you talking about this product? http://www.hikariusa.com/solutions/healthaid/quick-ich-x/

If so, it contains Malachite Green which a) You don't want to use in a DT b) Treats freshwater ich but not saltwater ich.

IMHO; one white spot isn't enough evidence to think a fish has ich. :) It could be many other things. :)

formaldehyde will kill saltwater ich, however it is not reef safe.

Kick ich is claimed to be reef safe, but the 2 times I've tried it (back in my younger reefing years) it does nothing. I recommend taking all fish out and put in a full qt to make sure you eradicate ich from the display.

bottom line.. from my experience there is no reef safe ich medication. If there was it would absolutely be famous.

Sorry, talking about Kick Ich...

Ah ok, Ruby Reef Kick-Ich. The company is very secretive about what is in that product. I've never used it, but some guys down at my LFS told me it didn't work and killed some corals.
