I used to have a reef tank in the UK some years ago so definatley not a noob..
Im in the process of designing a 3 x 500 liter filter for my Tilapia and Koi ponds here in the Philippines and have decided to utilise the same filtration tech for a 110 gallon Reef rank Im in the process of setting up..It all may go pearshaped but I really cannot think why it should.
So my plan is to have a submersible pump in a bare bottom tank..The water line goes up about a meter and 2 meters horizontally into 3 chamber vortex and settlement filter. Then on to a 60 liter gravel and sand filter..From there the water goes into a 4 stage above tank trickle filter with outlet back to tank.. No skimmer for first 6 months and probably never but I may add a UV light and use top half of gravel filter as a refugium. The main tank will be built into a wall with all the filters in back room..A bit like a living wall picture.
We live on an island with an abundance of coral reef so stocking the tank with fish and live rock will cost next to nothing.
I have looked for similar systems being utilised on youtube etc but nothing.. Your thoughts please.
