Received a Kole tang a few days ago and am presently quarantining him with Rally Pro, hoping to avoid any copper-related stress. He seems perfectly healthy, although ignoring the nori clipped in the tank. I'm wondering if General Cure can or should be used prophylactically with new, apparently healthy, fish.

I don't specifically use General Cure as a prophylactic, but every fish I take in gets Prazi, which is one of the ingredients.

Kole should be able to handle it fine. It kind of depends on your personal QT philosophies.

i always use copper power on every fish plus metroplex and prazipro though if you dont want to use copper if you monitor them for a month if they dont have velvet after the first week or two they should be good since it takes out fish so quickly. at the very least i would use general cure since it has metroplex and prazi together

For what it's worth, my white tail bristletooth refuses nori on a clip, hasn't even nibbled on it, had him a year and i've tried countless times with various different types.
He loves algae growing in the tank though.

Since the posting, I've figured out what I was doing wrong. I was clipping unfolded sheets of nori that were just waving in the flow. I doubled the strip and then folded it into a tight packet. It seems that the tang requires some resistance in order to feed, as it would have if it were growing on a rock. He's (it's?) now taking algae from the clip, as well as from nori rubber-banded to a piece of rubble.
