I've reached my first milestone. Very happy. The wall was my biggest concern of the project as I've never worked with concrete before. What we have here is measuring inside diameter of 17ft x 41" x 32" at the first spillover. It's a full pallot of 16x8x8 block plus a few extra, a few thousand pounds of concrete brought through a basement window and mixed by hand. I have a few lines of rebar left so I'm going to cut them into pieces and drop them down all the chambers before I fill it all with concrete. Then I will install the cap blocks and the spillways. clean everything up and we move on to paint. [emoji2]

Looking good! Where are you at now? Hopefully you have been able to work on it some more.

This is really impressive. Great diy and looking forward to seeing it progress.

Also big fan of stepping outside the normal. There's many ways to hold water and a great thinking idea.

Thanks, it's really all about seeing if I can make my vision actually work. I had to take a break for a bit. I hit a wall, pun intended. Once work slows down I will resume. Here is a crab getting excited for it's new home

Trust me I know your feelings all too well, I've been owner building basically my own house for the last year and half of actual building taught myself to draw the plans for the 2 years prior to that. And planning my own large (no where near as large as yours!) system.

It's definitely rewarding when you can finally stand back and see your vision and expectation become something plausible and take shape. But along the way wondering what the heck your doing and if you've bitten of more than you can chew will pop up atleast a dozen times if not more. Take a few breaks move from one task to another if you get a little stumped or a little stale. It always helped me.

Holy ****. That was a lot harder than I thought. I lost count but that was roughly 3500-5000 lbs mixed by hand. I had the concrete work as my biggest challenge. Just going to let it cure, put on the cap blocks and then start sealing.

Finished with all the block work. I have a lot of cleaning, scraping to do. Then I am going to order sealant. I have 3 company that I'm interested in. When I make a decision I will let you guys know why I went with them, then it's on to the next stage

Hello everyone. Sorry there hasn't been any updates. Not sure if I covered this, but a little backstory. I run my own plumbing business, have 5 and 3 year old daughters. Also I am caring for 7 tanks on about a 400 gallon loop. Summertime has proven to be difficult. On a good note I still have been acquiring equipment. I got lucky and stumbled upon around 400 lb of oversized beautiful pukani Rock that couldn't be sold. Going to be amazing in the tank I eventually build. I also went with rubberize it, in a light blue color to make my membrane. Should be here soon.

That is indeed some massive rock! I have some similar in my tank, makes for some awesome caves for my tanks to swim through. Good pickup!
