A couple weeks ago I added a firefish and a lawnmower, same day, same time, same acclimation bowl. Firfish active and out till lights out, then "missing" I have a 24gallon aquatop cube, checked everywhere and it's gone for sure. My guess is that it died that night and my hermits and/or rockflower anemone ate it. Fast forward to today and my lawnmower is dead on the bottom with hermits eating it. It seemed okay, then dead. Is it possible that one or both of them died from my cotton candy torch or either of my hammer corals/frog spawns? Also added at the same time as those was a cleaner shrimp that is thriving and has molted 2 times already.

It wasn’t your torch, I think something is off with your water parameters if the shrimp has molted twice in two weeks possibly?
Can we see tank parameters please?
do you have any live fish left in the tank?

I had 2 clowns that were well established buttholes in the tank, I traded them for the 2 fish and shrimp. It's possible it was one molt and I saw the most tucked away in a rock days later.
Last test was almost a month ago, this is dosing and parameters with 0 change to tank since then other than the 2 fish that have now died.

How long had the clowns been in the tank prior?

What salinity were the new fish in prior to your tank?
I drip acclimated the new fish from the low salinity treated water the LFS had them in, up to 1.26SG. And the clowns had lived in the tank 2 years prior to me getting the tank last October.

Any strange behaviors from either of the fish? Any odd appearance? Did they ever eat for you?
Firefish no, I saw it a few minutes then it hid. As far as I knew. Never saw it dead or a skeleton or anything. Lawnmower seemed okay but it hung out in the sandbed more than on the rocks. And there were a few times it was chilling on the return power head. It did eat some that I saw. Figured it was just weird while it was getting used to the tank.

What is your ph over 24 hours.
At night, when both your fish passed, the oxygen is lower than during the day.
Ph is an analogue of co2.
Do you run a skimmer?
I run an airstone in our aio for better gas exchange.

I thought similar but he had 2 other fish for quite awhile before these new ones.

No skimmer being ran, too much of a pain to try and set up. No clue what ph sits at across the day. I can look into the airshow thing though, I never knew that to be an issue. Never was for the clowns that were significantly larger than the 2 fish that died.

Have you had your water tested again since? If not I would have that tested again asap. Do you have any at home test kits? Hows temperature been? Have you checked all over the floor to double check they did not jump?

btw I am very sorry this happened! Those are both cool fish! Hope your able to correct course, and try again! I once had a few fish disappear for several days, and then they reappeared.

If everything checks out again, i would at least do a water change or two to get those nitrates lower when trying again.

I can get it tested usually on weekend since my LFS is about 45 minutes away. I plan on it. And yeah I checked a lot, I have a glass lid on the tank with just enough of a gap for the cord of a power head to pass through. I doubt the firefish jumped. It was there at lights out and gone since. I moved rockwork and all. Pretty sure it died and my rockflower anemone ate it.
