Leak testing a new tank

Need some advice,
I built a 100g glass tank, it came out great!
12mm extra clear glass with 15mm bottom.
Now its time to leak test it, I need some advice:
1. Is it ok to use tap water for a reef designated tank? Or should I leak test with ro water
2. How long would you keep it full until calling it safe?

Tap water for a leak test is perfectly fine. Just rinse well with ro water afterwords. And generally a week or two, up to a month is what most people run for tests. I know that seems like a long time, but given how long it's going to be filled when it's full of saltwater, better safe then sorry right ;)

Filling it with tap water should be totally fine. Rinse it with R/o water and let it dry after and you'll be good to go.

Longer is better. Nothing good happens fast in this hobby, and if you're going to find a leak, it's better to find it before there are living things in the tank... A few weeks (perhaps a month) should do it...
