My leather toadstool was my first coral back in Feb and has been doing fine until the last two weeks. It started to show signs of a shed but then these brown spots started appearing, the bad started to turn brown and it has not progressed with a shed and has shrunk down. Google has been no help and i don’t want to do wrong by the coral.

Details:
Salinity 1.025sg
440 calcium
1280 mag
8.5 KH
0 Ammonia/Nitrite
20 Nitrate
.10 phos
8.2 PH
25 degrees Celsius

Tank is 6 months old.
Live and man made rock.
160ltrs DT/ 40ltrs sump.
Mariglow LED lights (blue 9hrs/white 7hrs).
Return pump 2200ltrs p/h
Wave maker usually on 8000ltrs p/h but using a back up one at 2000-2500ltrs p/h the last few weeks due to repairs.

Corals are fed Red Sea AB+ every 3 days along with regular Phyto dosing.
Red Sea Complete Care dosed daily.

Need more info from you, such as parameters, lighting, flow, tank age, etc...

In general, toadstool like good amount of flow, they need it to shed, and to help them stand up straight, so put it in an area where it gets a good amount of random flow. You can also use a turkey baster to gently blow it off. It can acclimate to different lighting, but it likes higher lighting IME.

Sorry, should have added all of that in. I’ve edited my post to include more details.

It’s currently sitting in the middle back section of the tank so no doubt not a great spot. I could move it to the right side of the tank ontop of the rock work just off centre to the wave maker.
