My peacock mantis just died this week, epic sadface, and so I want to turn the 40 breeder he was in into a reef. About a year ago I got an MU 100 series from boost led and had it over a different tank for about a month before that tank had to come down. I want to put this light over the 40 but I wasn't sure how high to mount it over the tank. I eventually want to do some SPS, a clam, and a BTA for my maroons. My concerns is that I mount it too low and I bleach out everything or too high and nothing gets enough light since the light is rated for a 24" tank and the 40 breeder is 17" deep.

Here is the link to the light itself, it does have the PAR output chart in one of the pictures. I ask for help from everybody because I have only really ever had T5 bulbs in the hood.
So, how about it? Anyone have any suggestions as to how high to mount the light above the water surface?
Thanks in advance everybody!

I don't know specifically about your light but I have a DIY led hanging from the ceiling about 16 inches over the tank. The wire can be raised or lowered if needed.

its the spread you need to worry about anything past 16" will get less than 50PAR- how long or deep is your tank.

One light will not cover the lenght of the 40 breeder unless you want the sides to get very little light and I measured my light and it sits at 13" over the tank not 16 like I thought. I have two 16" heatsinks over my 40 breeder to give you an idea.

I'm fine with it not covering the whole tank. The aquascape is centered with a good 6" on each side with a good open sand bed in front.
