led ref light & plant grow lights?

Hello , would You consider an led ref light & an led regular grow light for plants be the same? I'm looking at a grow light with red & blue color . My "Nova evergrowS 90w refugium light" died on me & my usual supply Reef Supply out of Canada no longer carry them . I can't find this same light but a lot of Nova evergrows for terrestrial plants. Same thing? thanks

I think that marine species have slightly different spectrum requirements, so the wavelengths involved between reef-specific lights and terrestrial plant lights are likely not identical.
But that doesn't mean that a terrestrial grow light wouldn't also work for a refugium grow light. Refugiums aren't generally very deep, so you're not going to get a significant amount of spectrum shift. Really it's just a matter of how much of each wavelength the light puts out; if it's the right wavelength and intensity, any light (reef-specific or not) can grow marine plants.
It's certainly going to be better than a standard white bulb, and far better than nothing at all, of course.

Don’t blast me for saying this but fact is corals used to grow quite well and were quite ugly under 5000k vho daylight bulbs ,,, everything we read isn’t a absolute

A reef specific light has less red yellow and orange in general.

The “pink” grow lights are actually purple. Blues and reds.

Most plants actually preferr more blue than other colors. (Sky is blue ocean is blue.)

Keep in mind white is relative. 4000,k to 10,000 k can be considered white. And you can mix each a number of ways.

But ..don’t overthink it. That light is fine. A lot of folks are using them and horrible cheap knockoffs with great success.

@saltyfilmfolks more problems with getting light over this refugium So the screw in led light I had in storage.Starting blinking on me today. I'm thinking about going to tee Homedepot for a day flood light bulb. As close to 5 k as I can get.
Is This correct? Will any "day light" bulb be Ok?
This is just temporary until I find a good refugium fixture. I'm open to any suggestions on a good fixture . Thanks

Ps the dimensions of this ref are 15 by 17 by 17

For a fuge yes plant grow led lights work very well. Any light with red blue leds or in the 4000-7500k spectrum grow algae veey well,

Just checking in still haven't ordered a decent ref light. I went to the HD & bought a 10 $ 5000K flood. works great. Lol I had forgotten these bulbs work so well !
