If you want more pop all of the time, run the LED bars all day. Then run halides part of the day and T5 part of the day.
That was my original thought....the big question is which type of led bar will fit into this mission

I would go with reef brite xho, you can’t beat the spread and it’s strong enough to see with the halides on.

I would go with reef brights xho, I too wanted to go full metal halide/t5/led on my system. I love love love MH/T5/LED

I would have to replace 5 mh bulbs and 20 t5 bulbs yearly. It would cost me around 800 a year to replace bulbs alone, so couldn’t go the mh/t5/led route.

Hey guys , I also thinking about adding 2 Orphek LED bars ...the 2 models that I was thinking about are :
OR3 blue plus
OR3 blue sky

which one of them will be fitted to my MH/T5 lighting fixture ?

I'm looking for sunrise/ sunset & more "coral pop" supplement.

Hey, here is pic from 2 weeks ago .
since then , I glued the mini colonies to the rocks , and added few frags.
the grow rate and polyps extensions are amazing with the MH , few of the frags started their crusting...but I do miss the extra "pop" .
Right now its 250w × 2 of Hamilton 14k bulbs + 6 T5 bulbs.

Tomorrow I will post some few videos of the frags & mini colonies.
also , the work on the computer chamber hasn't over yet

If you want more pop, then the blue plus will fit the bill. It has more violet in the mix, so that'll make things "pop" a little more.
How long are you running the halides for? Just curious.
Thanks for the advice

I started running them 1 month ago

MH running 5 hours per day.
T5 running 10 hours per day.

why do you asking that ?
I'm curious
Just curious how long you were running them, nothing more. I run mine for 6hrs a day and supplement with LED bars. When running halides with supplemental lighting, the average on time is usually 4-6hrs, but this varies from tank to tank.

I run my halides for 7 hours and LEDs for 9 hours. No issues. Aim for 350-400 par on the frag racks. Radium 20k bulb and Reefbrite XHOs

I have had both the blue sky and blue plus. Without a doubt, the blue plus have better pop. Orpheks OR3 bars have a fairly narrow spread and need to be mounted high.

Nice looking tank. Clean setup.

You've got a lot of light over that system with the MH/T5 alone. I know XHO cuts through MH pretty well. I saw minus9's tank with the 250w and Quanta Meso blues and they cut through more than the xhos when I ran the same fixture. They blended very well with the 14k hamiltons too.

I'd put my money on the Quanta bars; either OG pop or Meso Blues for cutting through best in your system. I have the Quanta OG Pop and when I turn them on with my 10x54w t5 powermodule the color noticeably changes with more blue/pop. I run my spectrum around 14k to mimic my previous hamilton mh.

I'm not sure if they are available to your location or not. Also they do add PAR so you're going to want to ease into it. I don't currently run mine during my t5 schedule. I felt like I was over lighting the tank.

Right now there is lot of light above my tank ,you right at that.
the MH/T5 setup alone is more then enough for the sps.
I can see them thriving under this setup, its just that I do miss the "pop".
I also hang the lighting 45 cm above the water surface, otherwise the corals would simply burn out.

Some folks wrote here that Orpek led bars have narrowed spread.
I'm guessing that this problem could be solved with high mounting of that bars.
45 cm above water surface is fine ?
