lemon juice? for aptasia

hi all i wanted to know if anyone has had success with injecting lemon juice into aptasia and causing them to say melt :bigsmile: i tried Paul B's majano wand but the suckers are to quick for that:sad:. Also tried aptasia x but that seemed to be food for them :squigglemouth:

I tried it on the only one in my main tank a year back and never seen another. Now in my 40b tank I haven't tried it yet...but I did try some aptasia x from a friend and just like you I think it is food for them. Actucally I think its steroids for them..the suckers came back bigger and with armor.

Lemon juice works great. I used fresh lemon juice. I used it on 5 big ones and only one survived.

When I used aptasia X I had to use it 3-4 times to kill one completely.

Best thing I have done with aptasia was to make my own Kalk Paste.

take a tablespoon of Mrs Wages Pickling lime and add to that enough water to make it into a paste with toothpaste consisency. then add to that a tsp of crushed red pepper and some drops of hot sauce (think Texas Pete or some habanero pepper sauce. microave ti till bublby and then mix it well. add some Ro water if need be so it is smooth and flowable like toothpaste. Load it into a syringe and then put a little drop in their mouths. they will melt away very quickly never to return. works like a charm but tastes like crap

I use lemon juice or white vinegar. You don't need much but make sure to get it in their mouth and they will suck in and die.

Make sure to turn your flow off, it increases the contact time and works better for me. Your corals will close up but will be fine as long as you don't inject them directly. There's a favia colony under where i was battling some aiptasia and it would sometime spit up a little of its guts when the juice would settle on it for a few seconds, but it was always fine within 30 minutes afterwards.

Never heard of the paste but always lookin to try what has worked for others as for vinigor I will probably try that next if lemon juice dosent work and I didn't turn off my powerhead will do that next time I go to WAR

Ok its been acouple of days since I have seen these lil suckers does anyone know howlong before I can be for sure they are gone for good or just hideing

Patience grasshopper.. give them a weeks time or so. sadly, where you may see one, there may be others in hiding. I keep a loaded syringe of my paste in a vacuum sealed baggie and if I see one, i cut it open and zap them. while you may have killed the ones you see, there may be others. I do know I killed the visible ones I had then noticed some spring up elsewheres in the tank months later. actually nuked a pair of stragglers the other day.

I have no luck with lemon juice i even injected the same atapsia twice and the next day was out again so i just covered it in crazy glue gel and it died!!!!!!!!!!!:xd:

Well onto plan b if that fresh squeezed lemon juice don't work and the copperband don't work its time for vinegar to kick in
