Just picked this guy up and is in quarantine, having a hard time identifying, sorry for crappy pictures, tank doesn't have the greatest lighting and my phone is pretty old.

This one surprised me at the LFS, they claimed it was an Ornate Wrasse, looked like some weird Halichoeres that I'd never seen before. My best guess is Grey Head Wrasse.

Cool! Halichoeres wrasses are like trading cards for me, I just gotta have them all, so this one is certainly welcome.
Can be a bit more aggressive than the average, but it's usually okay.

This was sold to me as a common blue streak cleaner wrasse, but I’m thinking it may be a black spot cleaner wrasse? The black spot is missing though so I’m not sure but I’ve never seen a blue streak with a yellow head before. In any case for $10 I think it was a good buy.

So will the yellow head stay or it a phase? The fish is 3” long now.
It may stay; depends where it was collected. There is some regional variation in the species.

Careful if you're trying to add them to the same tank. Unless they happen to be male and female and decide to pair, one will kill the other.

Even in an 800 gallon tank? Is there a way to sex them?
Yes, and no. They're quite territorial and only work if paired.

The long island aquarium happens to have 3 in it - 2 are paired and the single keeps to a different area. But that tank is 20,000 gallons...

Hmm ok thanks for the heads up. I’ll finish qt then try an acclimation box, if it doesn’t look good it can go to another tank.

@evolved & @eatbreakfast

Do either of you have multiples from the Lunatus Complex? Due to losing my C. Isosceles, I'm looking to add another one and possibly C. cf Lunatus. Since they look to be lowest on the aggression spectrum. I know the Philippines Lunatus is very close to same colors as well.. What can I expect since they are within the same sub group?

Any insight would be extremely helpful.
Thank you,
