Yeah, both are biocellatus. Everybody misses sometimes.

FWIW, the juvi form of ornatissimus is more similar than you might think:

I went to my LFS to get a diamond goby, and ended up also getting this wrasse. Can anyone help to ID it?

i have a question, not so much ID as i'm fairly certain on that one, but i bought a solorensis on sunday. at the lfs they had 2 (male?) solorensis in the same 10 gallon tank. one was a beautiful blue, but didn't eat at all. the other one was more drab colored, body more green than blue, but ate like a champ. so i went with the eater hoping it was some kind of social situation or subadult deal.

so, what do i have? will it color up more blue in the future? not that i'd entertain the idea of taking him back, he's mine! i was just curious

Looks to me like it just hasn't quite moved to terminal male yet.

My oldest Fairy Wrasse is a Soloresis. He was thin, small and dabbed, sorry looking wrasse, but no crooked back. Now he is extremely colorful.
Take good care of them and the color will come. Mine was much worse than your wrasse about 16 months ago.

@mattzang
I really like Solorensis becasue they always have the metallic blue color, and metallic purple color (purple under the right angle). I nave never seen nuptial color of this wrasse. Don't know if he even have a nuptial color. He is so bright and colorful all the time, so nuptial color isn't really need to catch eyes.

It's in the infrared spectrum beyond our visibility.

Dusky yes, but the valid Latin is H. marginatus.
