Hi fellow reef keepers,

My name is Dennis Pracht. I’m 39 years old and live in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands. We have two saltwater aquariums. The smaller tank is 360 litres and the larger one is 730 litres. Both tanks are connected to the same sump. The large tank is a reef aquarium, while the smaller one will be used for seahorses.

Everything is controlled by a GHL ProfiLux, together with a KH Director and ION Director. The only equipment that is not connected to the ProfiLux is the lighting.

Both aquariums are fully built in. Above the large tank, there is a mirror panel that can automatically open and close. When the aquarium temperature rises above 26°C, it opens automatically to improve ventilation.

I also use Home Assistant, and both aquariums are connected to it. The protein skimmer drains its waste into a separate container that I built into the sump. When the water level in this container becomes too high, the dirty water is automatically pumped to the kitchen drain.

Since GHL does not offer a Home Assistant add-on, I created one myself. It retrieves the selected measurements from my ProfiLux at a chosen interval. In my case every 15 minuten and sends the values to Home Assistant.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Dennis
