It is fully repairable as long as the power supply transformer is still good to go and tube driven :-)

Haha. I think I just have expensive taste. A custom rod can cost nearly 500 in parts. That's before the time to make it and a reel. I can do some damage when I'm shopping for a reel. Lol

I donot know if a custom rod or sweet reel could help my fishing I can only catch a buzz. Now bow fishing that's another story get out my ams and go to town

Do it! It's awesome. :) One thing I wish I had done was try several different styles of BCD before I bought one. I found a good deal online so I jumped on it but now I've tried on others that I find much more comfortable. I guess that's true about most of the gear. Rent your gear for a while so you can try different brands and different styles until you know what you like. Other than that, find yourself a good PADI certified instructor and you should be good.

I honestly have no other hobby! My other time is spent trying not to tick off my wife with my constant tank tinkering(which I'm getting better at). I can spend hours and hours taking pictures, videos and looking at my nano tanks all day!

I had a 125 about 6 years ago...
My at that time wife said "shut it down, you pay more attention to that tank than you do me"

We are now divorced even after I granted her wish and shut it down
