I have some mesh screen and im looking for something to make a frame for a lid out of. At first I thought to just use those thick metal wires that can bend, but after hearing about metal leeching im a bit worried to use it. Any ideas for someone with literally no tools of any kind? Maybe some plastic rods i can melt to "weld?"

doesn't aluminum leech into the water?
Yes.... but your frame is not in the water. You need to clean it 1 time a week like the rest of your tank.
Also, I have a bowfront tank that also needs a lid, is there a way to get a frame to fit that as well?
Not any ready to go kits I know of. You would have to ask an LFS that sells bowfronts.

Ah, alright, thanks. At worst I might just go with some wood to cut out and glue together, i dont need anything that looks good or complicated

Screen frame kits at Lowe's / Home Depot are pretty cheap and expected to be outdoors so should last a while.
Just cut sides to size, use the corners and rubber bead (that holds the screen on, in the frame grooves) from the kit, and use your mesh.

That's what I did (and many on here).
