I originally intended to purchase a smaller tank, but after a couple debacles I’m now taking my time and planning a larger build. That said, I purchased an AI Hydra Edge 44HD. Couple of questions:

1) Will this light be sufficient for a Nyos Opus G2 300 (also considering other tanks, but all share similar dimensions):

2) Will I be able to center mount this light on the back of the Nyos using the HMS mounting kit or will the overflow location prevent this?

Nyos is the top contender right now, so I don’t want to be “stuck” with a light that isn’t a good fit for the tank. Also, since I’m taking my time, I’m open to used lights, so was thinking I may be able to buy a pair of high quality fixtures for similar $$.

While I’m at it, if anyone has any thoughts on these tanks, feel free to chime in!

-UNS R90 (love it, but shipping cost on top of highest MSRP makes it a hard sell)
-Nyos Opus G2 300
-Neptunian Cube Magic Pro 90
-Eshopps M70

I have no experience with the hydra 44 (I have run the 32 before) but the manufacturer states it has 30 inches of max coverage and the G2 300 is 35inches long. That said if you have it I would run it till the tank starts to fill out/you need more light. You could easily run it for 6 months to a year depending on your tank goals before your tank actually needs more light.
