Lighting overlap

Probaly a simple answer but I lack knowledge of light and wavelength. I'm putting 2 ai primes on a 40 breeder about 12" apart, I know there's various opinions of this lights coverage, so let's say in general where the 2 lights overlap will the par be double? Or a percentage higher or will it just blend in and par average out? Thanks

There's a hot spot in each of the lights, and then it falls off on the edges. Making the place in the middle come up. One would hope to the approx level of the hot spot.
