Hi all,
I’ll try keep it brief.
Will be Keeping LPS and Sofites.
Reefer 170 G2
EcoTech Radion xr15 G5 BLUE

I would like a whiter spectrum in the evening when I will be viewing the tank. While I’m not home I don’t mind the very blue AB plus preset.

My question is, am I able to use for example 1 hour ramp up, 6 hours of AB plus and then the last 3 hours of around 10-12k white light, 1 hour down.
I have read that the spectrum should be kept the same throughout the day as it stresses the coral due to Zooxanthellae activity. I of course don’t want unnecessary stress to the coral.
Can I do this to sacrifice coral health and increase viewing aesthetics?
What are you opinions on this, is my hesitancy not necessary as it will all be fine? Or will this really change the effects of coral?
Also I think I will be running it on 50% intensity
Thanks a lot in advance :)

As long as it remains constant every day, the corals and fish will adapt.

WWC runs a 12-ish hour schedule with the whites ramping up first thing in the morning and going for 4 hours or so, then blue heavy through the day while the store is open.

I run a 12-ish hour schedule where my whites ramp up in the middle of the day for 4 hours. I'm blue heavy in the morning and evening.

I'd say you could easily switch the white period to the evening. As long as it's consistent, the corals will acclimate and do fine.
