I have a 90 gal dt with a 8 bulb t5ho fixture 5” above the water .
About 6 months ago one of the ballast went causing only 4 bulbs to work .

it’s worked but I think it’s been only bare min
I’m adding a new ballast this evening .
My question is , adding the 4 bulbs to get the fixture back up to full lighting , will that effect the corals ?

Essentially .....
I’m doubling the light back to its original 8 bulbs but it’s been months running on only 4 bulbs .
I believe I’m under par if applying wattage per gallon

Nothing to do with the corals, just place the fixture higher above the water surface, maybe 12" to start with.
