Ok is it ok to have your lights on once a day all the time or should lighting be given a day off once a week ? You know like off on Sunday ? Is there any benefit to this ?

Some people say yes because in the ocean there are storms and the corals don't always get sunlight. I don't do it because most corals have been in captivity and don't know what the ocean is like.

I agree with blazin. most of our corals are use to the home aquarium life. Beside that they do adapt and change color from the wild lighting(sun) to our artificial lighting. So i say no there is no need to shut the lights off for a day or two.

you say 2 to 3 days off ? would that be in a row or a day here and a day there? I was thinking the same thing storms cause days without sunlight and bet they could use the time off from all the sunny days we produce lol

I would say if its not boke dont fix it! I dont give mne a day off and its been good, even on stormy days there is some sort of indirect sun, like they say you can a sun burn of a cloudy day.
