Nothing seems to eat this stuff. I got it on live rock. It grew super fast then slowed down. Anywhere it goes it STICKS to everything. Overflow. Hermit crab shell. Pumps. I'm about to get some tangs and want to make sure it's not toxic or something weird. Any ideas what this is?

Looks like some form of macro algae @vlangel might have the answer you are looking for!

It's not any of the macroalgae that I have. You could check out the website for Gulf Coast Ecosystems. They carry a lot of macros with descriptions of each. Reading their descriptions might help you ID it.
I would really be surprise if it is toxic. It might be a type of gracilaria?
@Subsea also knows a lot about macros, maybe he will recognize it?

Thanks for the info. I'll look into it and report back if I find anything.

Hiya, we see don't see this often nor that large, and do not have a specific identification. Most likely it's a variety of Gracilaria. Is the texture more like a turf algae or soft?
Purple spine urchins eat turf algae, you might try one.

Gracilaria makes sense looking at google results. It is soft and a little bit slippery. VERY DENSE in sump. Looks like chaeto but red? I've never had Chaeto but based on pictures. It has never gone sexual which is nice. Maybe something good then. I have a tuxedo urchin otw. Hopefully he'll like it. Pythos crab and pygmy angel won't touch it so far. Also Thanks for the rock! :) had a lot of fun hitchhikers.

It looks beautiful and great to see how rock "grows" out in customer's tanks.
